1 Corinthians 2:15 “The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things”
1 Corinthians 2:15 “The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments.”
What does it mean to make judgements about all things? It seems to me that a person with the Spirit is supposed to be understanding the world (and spirit world) very well. But I often don’t feel that way. Sometimes I go through life having a very little grasp on what is going on around me. I can’t comprehend what’s going on on this earth, nor the World behind it for that matter. How can I make judgements about all things?
Does Jesus want me to go around, passing judgement on everyone I meet? No, I don’t think that is what he is saying here. But I do believe most Christians confuse “condemnation” with “discernment.” We should be seeing more, more of the spirit world. More of what is really making this world tick. More of what God’s plan is for this place.
There are times when I see things so crystal clear. It’s as if life (and all eternity) is unfolded before me. I have no questions about who I am or what I’m doing here. Things aren’t perfect, but everything makes perfect sense. My, how quickly those moments pass! But if I continue to hold onto his word, more and more of the insight from such moments will remain.
I don’t want to be the master of all understanding in the universe, nor do I think I can ever be. I want to know as much of God as I can; I want everything he has coming to me. Why else am I on this earth? I want all the knowledge and insight he can give, so I can be better used for his purposes.
There is a lot that God wants to pour into us, a lot more for us to see and understand.
